LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Fundraisers, festivals and more on EHS’s agenda for November and December

Temperatures drop and Thanksgiving nears as Emmaus High School prepares for the upcoming holiday season.

Parent-teacher conferences will be held 6-8 p.m. Nov. 18. This date is for parents and guardians who have already scheduled meetings with their student’s teachers via the EHS website.

Conference locations for each teacher can be found on the “Parent Teacher Conferences” section of the website; select the link pertaining to the teacher’s department, find their name and use the corresponding room number.

The Hornet’s Nest, EHS’s student-run school store, will also be open during conference night to sell holiday merchandise, school merchandise and more. Accepted payment methods include cash and check.

On Nov. 19, head to the EHS auditorium for the winter orchestra concert. The performance will be held 7-9 p.m.

Gallery 521.5, the art department’s both online and in-person art gallery, is looking for artwork submissions highlighting shades of blue. For a chance to be featured, use the Google form on the EHS website to submit a high-quality photo of your work. Works can be in any medium. Submissions are due by Nov. 19 and those who are chosen for the gallery will be notified by Nov. 24.

The Foreign Cultures Club will hold its winter holiday festival Nov. 24 after school in the locker commons. Winter holidays from various cultures, such as Diwali, Orthodox Christmas and Eid-al-Fitr, will each have a stand at the festival, offering crafts, food and more. Join the Foreign Cultures Club group on Schoology for more information; the Schoology code can be found on the EHS website.

The EHS Angel Network has partnered with Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza, located in the Hamilton Crossings shopping center, to support local families with holiday costs. Twenty percent of all sales made 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Nov. 24 will be donated to the Angel Network.

Orders may be placed for takeout, dine-in or catering and a lottery ticket raffle will also be available to those interested. You must mention “Angel Network” in your order for proceeds to be donated.

Auditions for “The Addams Family,” the theater department’s spring musical, will be held 3-6 p.m. Dec. 13-16 in the auditorium. More information and materials will be released on the theater department’s Schoology page after Thanksgiving break.

The Young Republicans Club encourages students to support Wreaths Across America, an organization dedicated to laying wreaths at veteran tombstones during the month of December. Students may donate money to sponsor a wreath or volunteer to lay wreaths on Dec. 18. Use the St. Luke’s website as linked in the EHS announcements to support this cause.

Yearbooks, class rings and class attire for the 2021-2022 school year are available on www.balfour.com.
