Robert A. Gold Jr., 89, of Wescosville, formerly of Mountain Top, Luzerne County, Bradenton, Fla. and Narbeth, died peacefully Oct. 24, 2021, at St. Luke’s Hospice House, Lower Saucon Township. He was the husband of Mary T. (McGinty) Downey Gold for 27 years and the late Sonia (Dudrick) Gold. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Robert A. Gold Sr. and Eva (Caffery) Gold.
He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War era.
He was employed as a sales representative for the Xerox Corp. in Rochester, N.Y., for over 35 years, retiring in 1996.
He was a member of St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, Emmaus and the Knights of Columbus.
His favorite pastimes included his love of golf and playing cards.
He is survived by his wife; children, Patricia G. Brodginski, of Mountain Top, John H. (Kathy), of Danville, Stephen M. and James R., both of Wilkes-Barre, Aiden C. Downey (Yanna), of Atlanta, Ga., Stephen J. Downey, of Austin, Texas, Craig L. Downey (Kristen), with whom he resided; a sister, Jean Marie Doerpinghaus, of Alexandria, Va.; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandsons; several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Nov. 6 at St. Jude Roman Catholic Church, 420 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top. Family and friends may pay their respects 10 to 10:45 a.m. Nov. 6 in the church.
