NOTRE DAME NEWS Great day to be a Crusader By Michael Hodgskins

Notre Dame offers students great opportunities, all while maintaining a family-like atmosphere. Although it is not a big high school, Notre Dame has a wide variety of clubs, activities and opportunities for everyone.

We have over 20 sports for students to participate in -varsity and junior varsity- and even more clubs. From football to Chess Club and painting to Key Club, we manage to cover all of the students’ interests with a wide umbrella of fun and excitement. Numerous clubs, such as Key Club, focus on giving back to the community and teaching students the value of philanthropy. Despite the competitive and sporty nature you may see on the outside, Notre Dame’s number one priority is helping its students.

We also have a broad range of academics, where students can take honors or even advanced college level classes to help prepare them for the future. If Notre Dame does not offer a course you are interested in taking, there is always an option to take the class online, which you will easily be able to fit into your schedule.

If you have a question or need to speak with a teacher or any faculty member about your grades or even your personal life, they are always here before or after school, ready to make time for you to help you become the best version of yourself. This even goes as far as our Aquinas program, which is an organization built solely to assist students who may require additional support.

Peer Listening is a program also dedicated to helping students, but with their personal problems. If a student doesn’t feel comfortable talking to a teacher or one of their friends about problems at home, they can always go to a Peer Listener and let out their feelings with the comfortable assurance of it being completely anonymous. This alone strengthens the bonds between the students, and you may even make a friend through sharing similar experiences, creating good out of bad.

As you can see, we are all tightly woven together, like a quilt… like a family, and we support each other with more school spirit than ever. It’s always a great day to be a Crusader.
