Oct. 13

The Vera Cruz Halloween parade 7 p.m. Participants will gather 6 to 6:30 p.m. in Mystic Chain Park, Main Road East. The rain date is 7 p.m. Oct. 14.

Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., Macungie, will hold its monthly supplemental food distribution that consists of bread, snacks and pick items 2:30-4 p.m. This distribution is open to everyone.

Oct. 14

Children’s author and illustrator Dan Yaccarino starts three days of area appearances with a visit to Emmaus Public Library, 11 E. Main St., 5 p.m. He will appear 4 p.m. Oct. 15 at Let’s Play Books! bookstore, 244 Main St., Emmaus and 11 a.m. Oct. 16 at the Bethlehem Public Library. All three public events are free. Yaccarino also will visit three elementary schools in the East Penn School District and one elementary school in the Allentown School District as part of his tour. All visits are complementary to the school districts and townships. Masks are required at all indoor events. Yaccarino’s latest book, titled “The Longest Storm,” addresses the impact of quarantining on a father and his three children.

Oct. 16

Fall bazaar at Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Quarry Road, Alburtis, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Event includes crafters, attic treasures, a gift basket auction, bake sale and food.

The Halloween in Emmaus 5K Race will be held 7-8 p.m. beginning at Emmaus High School, 500 Macungie Ave. For more information, visit http://emmaus5k.com.

Emmaus will hold its Halloween parade 7:30 p.m. with a rain date of 6:30 p.m. Oct. 17.

Boo Avenue Drive-Thru 9 to 11 a.m. in the rear parking lot of the Lower Macungie Township Community Center, 3450 Brookside Road. The event is designed for children 3 to 12 years old and will feature special costumed characters, who will help hand out treats. Visitors will remain in their vehicles and drive slowly along the “avenue.” Registration is required. For information and registration, contact the community center at 610-966-6924.

Oct. 17

The Upper Milford Township fire companies will host their annual community day open house noon to 3 p.m. at the Upper Milford Township Building, 5671 Chestnut St. (Route 100/29). Emergency equipment will be displayed and first responders, including firefighters, paramedics and EMTs, will be available to answer questions. Smokey Bear will visit noon. Learn about what it takes to respond to fires, accidents and medical emergencies.

Coopersburg will hold its Halloween parade 3 p.m. with a rain date of 3 p.m. Oct. 24.

Oct. 20

Alburtis Area 55+ Seniors will hold their monthly meeting noon at the Alburtis Rod & Gun Club Pavilion, 3818 Gun Club Road, Alburtis. Come join the fun social gathering. A potluck lunch is followed by bingo. There are many bus trips throughout the year. For more information, call Jack at 610-966-4996.

Oct. 23

Macungie will hold its Fun Run 6:45 p.m. with the Halloween parade to follow 7:45 p.m.

Oct. 24

New Temple Order of the Eastern Star hosts a walk-thru basket fundraiser 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., 2021 Route 100, Macungie. Longaberger and Vera Bradley items will be among items available. Oct. 29

Grace Lutheran Church’s regular grocery giveaway will be held 2:30-4 p.m. at 28 W. Main St., Macungie. Due to block grant funding, the end-of-the-month food cupboard distribution is limited to residents of the East Penn School District.

Nov. 4

Lower Lehigh AARP will meet for its monthly meeting noon at Macungie Memorial Park, main building – lower level, 50 Poplar St. New members are always welcomed. For more information, call Jack at 610-966-4996.

Nov. 6

Annual Holly and Ivy craft show 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lehigh Christian Academy, 1151 S. Cedar Crest Blvd. The craft show features handcrafted items from more than 80 crafters and vendors, a “Little Shoppers” boutique shop for kids and homemade baked goods. Admission and parking are free.

Nov. 13

Scouting for Food drive 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Upper Milford Township municipal building, 5671 Chestnut St.
