Boys, girls cross country teams now 3-3

On Tuesday Sept. 21, both boys and girls cross country teams went 2-1 on the day with wins over Allen and Dieruff.

Both teams now have records that stand at 3-3 on the season.

“Having raced there last week, it was a good comparison from one week to the next,” said head coach Dan Benner. “While we are still growing as a team at this juncture of the season, there were some good performances on the day for both teams.”

In addition to Zeke Colyer getting the overall win again, the Kids saw many time drops from last week, which is easy to compare since it was the same course. Liam Galicki dropped 50 seconds, Mitchell Mondschein dropped 39 seconds, Greg Reese was 49 seconds faster, Deric Fritzges dropped 7 seconds, Keith Demieri was 28 seconds faster, Mephibosheth Martinez dropped 29 seconds, but the biggest improvement on the boys side was Avery Martinez who 1 minute and 24 seconds faster, Benner said.

The girls, as well, saw some nice improvement this week with Olivia Horn being 11 seconds faster, Brianna Tyler dropping 22 seconds, Ellie Spencer going 9 seconds faster, Maddie Berger dropping 12 seconds, and Lauren Schuch being 15 seconds faster. The trio of freshman saw the biggest drops with Kendra Bealer being 52 seconds faster, Maddie Motsko 1 minute and 7 seconds faster, and the biggest dropper being Olivia Kuhns at 1 minute and 22 seconds faster, according to Benner.

The team has a busy week next week with an EPC meet against Pocono Mountain East, Pocono Mountain West, and Pleasant Valley on Tuesday and then the Paul Short Invitational on Friday.
