CMS News: New program starts Oct. 4 for CMS girls

Catasauqua Middle School is starting a new after-school program - Girls on the Run.

There will be separate clubs for fifth- and sixth-graders called simply Girls on the Run and seventh- and eighth-graders called Heart and Sole. Both clubs meet 2-3:30 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays from Oct. 4 through Dec. 4.

Through the program, girls will have fun, make friends, increase their physical activity and learn important life skills. Each girl receives a bag, water bottles, curriculum journal, program shirt, a finisher medal and an end-of-season surprise, in addition to a fun, positive and inclusive experience.

Register now at gotrlehighvalley.org. Registration is first-come, first-served, and the roster will close at 15 girls.

CMS is selling SaveAround coupon books until Sept. 30. To order a book, complete the form that was sent via PowerAnnouncement Sept. 7.

Coupon books are $25.

If you did not receive a form, send in with your child a check payable to CMS or cash in an envelope marked with your child’s name, homeroom teacher and number of books. You can also come in the school and purchase a book directly from the office.

For every five books a student sells, you will receive a free book.

This fundraiser directly supports the student activity fund.

Catasauqua Area School District has suspended the practice of curbside meal service, and instead, meals may be ordered for pickup for students learning remotely.

If you would like to order school meals for your child who is learning remotely, send an email by noon each Wednesday to nagyl@cattysd.org. You must include your student’s name and grade level and the dates covered by the meals you are requesting.

Five days’ worth of meals will be provided each week - to include a breakfast and a lunch per weekday. Orders may be picked up 9:30 a.m. Thursdays at Sheckler Elementary School.

Ring the doorbell at the kitchen door in front of the school.
