Audit for 2020 presented in Lower Macungie

During the Aug. 5 Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners hybrid meeting, the 2020 audit was presented. The audit was conducted by an independent agency Maillie LLP which serves Southeastern Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland. The audit is of governmental activities and major funds.

Despite COVID-19, financial results had no significant impact on the township.

In accordance with accounting principles, financial statements were presented fairly. For further information on audit details, check the township’s website at www.lowermac.com.

Resolution 2021-34 is for plan approval for another Spring Creek property. It is for Lot 12. A 337,000 square foot warehouse will be constructed along Spring Creek Road and the proposed Sauerkraut Lane extension. The address will be 8120 Sauerkraut Lane. The plan will include a parking lot and stormwater management facilities. Landscaping, street lighting and fire hydrants are all included in the plan. The resolution was approved.

A resident sent a letter to the township supporting a township police force,

A resident wrote a letter regarding the additional income tax for farmland preservation. The letter was in support of this proposal.

There was a proposal to appoint a person to the planning commission but it is being held up as the chairman of the commission has not had a chance to review this applicant. This will be tabled.

The approval for the Guardian Storage conditional use was delayed due to some minor issues. The approval of the Advanced Health Care conditional use hearing was approved.

A resolution was proposed to support Ordinance 2020-02. This is a noise ordinance which will allow the township to respond to noise complaints.

President Ron Beitler recused himself due to his upcoming operation of a brewery/distillery within the township. The resolution was approved.

Security releases were approved for Shepherd’s Corner, Beit Simcha at Grange Road and Hamilton Boulevard and Taco Bell at 5374/5392 Hamilton Blvd.

There was an executive session held following the July 26 workshop.
