Catasauqua: Smith Compound Band to perform

The Catasauqua free summer concert series presents The Smith Compound Band, sponsored by Daku’s Auto Body, 7-10 p.m. July 30 at Catasauqua Park and Playground, 501 American St.

Don’t forget to bring your lawn chairs, blankets and dancing shoes!

Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, 604 Fourth St., will be holding a free community lunch 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. July 31. Just show up for a scrumptious hot meal and spend some time with your neighbors.

Amy Korman, a Penn State educator and an entomologist, is the speaker for the Aug. 4 meeting of Catasauqua Garden Club. Korman will present “Insects in My Flower Garden.”

The club meets 1 p.m. at Slovak Center Social Club, 1233 Fifth St., North Catasauqua.

Members will present their artistic and/or horticultural entries for judging. Garden-friendly visitors and the merely curious are always welcome.

Catasauqua Community Thrift Shop, 113 Bridge St., will begin opening 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturdays next month, beginning Aug. 7.

The hours of the shop had been changed to 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Mondays-Fridays because of COVID-19.

Beginning in September, the shop returns to the regular business hours of 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Please stop by for some great bargains.
