Catasauqua Area School District and the Catasauqua Community Cares Program is planning to distribute free backpacks to any district student who needs one.

There are approximately 250 backpacks. According to Lois Reed, CASD business supervisor and C3P coordinator, approximately 200 of the backpacks have designs and 50 are plain.

Families can pick up the backpacks 6-7 p.m. Aug. 3 and 10-11 a.m. Aug. 6 in front of Sheckler Elementary School, 201 N. 14th St., Catasauqua.
