Salisbury National Night Out Aug. 3

I hope everyone has been having a fun summer and finding a way to stay cool on these crazy hot days. As we make our way through the summer, there are always things happening in the township.

Mark your calendars for the Salisbury Township National Night Out 5-8 p.m. Aug. 3 at Salisbury Middle School, 3301 Devonshire Road. Meet and greet your local police officers, firefighters and EMS personnel. The event will include a basket raffle, 50/50 drawing, emergency vehicles on display, music, entertainment, free kids’ games and activities, food trucks, strolling magician, dunk tank, bounce house and more. For more information or to donate a basket for the raffle, email or call Cpl. Kevin Kress at kkress@salisburytownship pa.org or 610-797-1447.

If you are considering playing Salisbury Middle School/Salisbury High School sports, being a team manager or joining twirling/marching band and still need a physical, there is another option to get that done. Physicals will be completed 5 p.m. July 28 in the SHS main gym. More information will follow and look for a sign-up genius notice to be sent out.

Salisbury Youth Association registration for the fall football, cheerleading, soccer and baseball is now open online. Visit syasports.net and select the option you would like to register for more information and registration forms.

The 10th annual Salisbury Football Golf Classic will be held Aug. 14 at Wedgewood Golf Course. Registration is 7 a.m. with a shotgun start 8 a.m. The fee includes tournament fees and cart, continental breakfast and hot dogs at the turn and beverages all day. Prizes will be awarded. Registration and sponsor opportunities are still available. Contact Andy Cerco at acerco@salisburysd.org or Leno Scarcia at lscarcia@verizon.net for information.

The township yard waste sites continue to be open alternating weekends for drop off needs. Hours for drop off are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and Thursday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The Franko Farm drop-off will be open July 26, 29 and 31, while the Devonshire drop-off will be open Aug. 2, 5 and 7.
