A. I graduated from Emmaus High School in June.

Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.

A. My mom’s name is Feng, my dad’s name is Xiaofeng (but everyone calls him Steve) and my sister’s name is Anna.

Q. What was your favorite subject? Why?

A. My favorite subject was definitely physics. I love thinking conceptually, especially with electricity because I had always tinkered with electronics and I always had fun lab groups to work with.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. I received a gold medal as part of the President’s Volunteer Service Award, the EHS Chamber Strings award and the excellence in physics award. I have also been on the Principal’s Honor Roll throughout high school, performed in Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District orchestra festivals, am a member of National Honor Society and Tri-M Music Honor Society and am an AP Scholar with Distinction.

Q. Were you involved in any extracurricular activities? How did COVID-19 impact these activities?

A. I was heavily involved with the orchestra playing the cello in various ensembles as well as self-teaching myself the piano. I was also the co-president of the Academic/Quiz Bowl team, an officer of the Interact Club and a member of the Red Cross and Future Business Leaders of America clubs. In 2019, I traveled with a cohort called Learning Across the Ocean to teach English and western culture to children in China, but we couldn’t travel last summer because of COVID-19.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. My biggest challenge was crafting a version of myself that would be presentable to colleges in the college application process.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. I am attending Penn State Schreyer Honors College at University Park to obtain a degree in electrical engineering and then moving onto graduate school.

Q. Whom do you admire? Why?

A. I admire my sister because she inspires me to have a competitive spirit and a strong work ethic.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I want to be remembered as a hardworking individual who is always willing to help out.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. Don’t say more than necessary.
