Whitehall High School: Class of 1970 reunion rescheduled

The Whitehall High School Class of 1970 reunion has been rescheduled for Sept. 24 and 25.

Seating will be reserved for the Class of 1970 during the football game between WHS and Easton Area High School. The game starts 7 p.m. at the WHS stadium. There is no cost to attend the game for members of the Class of 1970. Following the game, there will be a get-together at Dave and Buster’s, 1491 MacArthur Road.

The big reunion event will be held Sept. 25 at Iron Lakes Country Club, 3625 Shankweiler Road, Allentown. The night begins 6 p.m. with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, followed by a buffet dinner and dancing to DJ Scotty G 7-10 p.m. The cost for the evening includes one free drink coupon. There will be a cash bar.

According to the reunion committee, 33 members of the Class of 1970 have died. To honor their memories, the committee would like to have potted mums placed around the room. Classmates, even those not attending the reunion, may sponsor the mums.

The 50th reunion was to be held in 2020 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The reunion committee has spent the last year working to plan an event at a reasonable cost. The committee reported it plans to subsidize the milestone event from the Class of 1970 treasury. Raffle tickets will be sold at the reunion to raise funds for future events.

The reunion committee includes Dianne Gable Rennig, Donna Miller Scholtis, George Anthony, Jeanne Strisovsky, John Tremblay, Lois Yandrisevits Sobchak, Lorie Panik Sugra, Phyllis Molchany Brader and Rosemary Wiessner Geosits.

Reach out to any committee member or email scholtisd@gmail.com if you have questions. Visit the WHS Class of 1970 website on Alumniclass.com for further information.
