James D. “Jim” Strouse, 85, of Leesburg, Fla., formerly of Emmaus, died June 17, 2021. He was the husband of Marjorie Frederick. They were married for nearly 62 years. Born in Emmaus, he was the son of the late Horace and Alma (Erney) Strouse.
He graduated from Emmaus High School, Class of 1954.
He was a proud member of the United States Army having served in the Korean War.
He was employed by Texaco, Inc., for over 30 years based in Macungie, holding positions of tank truck operator and resident terminal deliveryman.
In his leisure time, he followed NASCAR racing. At one time, he owned an extensive collection of Breweriana and Texaco/oil industry memorabilia.
He was a man of character, kind and helpful - especially to friends and neighbors at Lake Harris Landing, Leesburg, Fla. He leaves behind many memories and will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Kathleen (Martin) White, of Elida, Ohio; grandsons, Nicholas (Kim), of Mentor, Ohio; Zachary (Katie), of Towson, Md.; Timothy (Katie), of Broadview Heights, Ohio and A.J., of Elida, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Emma, Jack, Drew, Julia and Anne; a sister, Jean (Tony) Lokez, of Topton; a sister-in-law, Carlene Haas, of Allentown; a brother-in-law, Frank (Judy) Frederick, of Macungie; a sister-in-law, Rita, of Whitehall. He was predeceased by brothers, Robert and Richard; brothers-in-law, Leroy Haas and Robert Greenbaum and sisters-in-law, Shirley Greenbaum and Betty.
Memorials can be made in his name to the Lake County Animal Shelter, 12280 C.R. 448, Tavares, Fla. 32778 or to a charity of the donor’s choosing.
