Library offering virtual programs

Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall, is hosting an Adopt a Reading Buddy for children ages 2-10 from 9-11:30 a.m. June 19 and 26.

Drop by the library to adopt a stuffed animal friend and pledge to read to him or her this summer.

The library is providing Summer Quest themed take-and-make craft kits just for teens.

The week of June 21 is Ocean Slime. The week of June 28 will be Shark Jell-O Aquarium.

Each kit includes project instructions and materials for creating the project.

There are a limited number of kits available for pick up.

All kits will be available on a first come, first-served basis.

A virtual Teen Dungeon and Dragons Night Zoom meeting will be 6-8 p.m. June 21 through the website R20 for students in seventh through 12th grade.

Adults, join library staff for its Wings for Seniors program about birds 3-4 p.m. June 22 via Zoom.

Discover how raptors hunt, where they live and how they differ from other birds.

The library is hosting a “Teen Astronomy-Are Black Holes Real” program for kids in grades five through 12 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. June 22 via Zoom.

Learn about black holes, their origin and more.

The library will host an in-person create-and-craft class for adults 3-6 p.m. June 23 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Room 1.

All materials provided while supplies last.

Miss Mary will host a virtual Zoom story time 10-10:30 a.m. June 23.

This story time is perfect for kids of all ages, but geared to kids age 5 and younger.

Kids in grades three through five are invited to join library staff for their Among Us for Kids game 6:30 p.m. June 23 via Zoom.

Participants will play in a group of four to 10 players to complete tasks to find and defeat the impostor before time runs out.

Meet Kevin McCloskey, award winning author and illustrator of the children’s novel “We Dig Worms and Ants Don’t Wear Pants” 6:30-7:30 p.m. June 24 via Zoom.

The library will be offering one-on-one English as a Second Language support assistance for adults June 28-Aug. 27.

Schedule a time with a supporter to get some assistance with dialogue, improving your language understanding, and using the library as a resource to help you succeed.
