D’Amico steps away from Freedom

It’s the end of an era at Freedom for baseball coach Nick D’Amico. After 15 years leading the baseball program as head coach, D’Amico resigned recently.

“We appreciate his 15 years with our Freedom family,” Stannard said in a release. “He had tremendous success leading our program to the District 11 6A championship in 2018. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.”

D’Amico was a staple in the area’s baseball scene, as he finished 168-135 during his tenure. The Pates went 7-12 this past season and couldn’t muster a playoff berth.

However, Freedom’s 2018 season will be looked upon as one of D’Amico’s career highlights, as the team went 16-10 and won the District 11 6A title following a 2-1 victory over Parkland. It was the first district championship since 1999 for the program.

The Pates also won the East Penn Conference crown in 2016.
