LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Support Salisbury basketball by attending fundaiser June 13

Despite the pandemic changing many aspects of school, athletics remained strong.

Salisbury Township School District has had successful and safe fall, winter and spring sport seasons with minimal repercussions.

Restrictions on spectators and strict adherence to regulations during games and practices worked to keep athletes, staff and the community safe. Due to this, Salisbury was able to continue to have unhindered athletics throughout the 2020-2021 school year. This created a feeling of normalcy for students and athletes and gave them something to look forward to despite virtual learning.

Although very few members of the community had a chance to watch Salisbury games, being able to have a season meant a lot to the students and their families. The reward was greater than the obstacles and restrictions; this may be why Salisbury had such great success staying healthy.

In celebration, Salisbury basketball will host its first annual fundraiser. This is a great opportunity for the community to support Salisbury athletics and be able to come together after the time apart.

Salisbury basketball is holding a barbecue chicken fundraiser noon to 3 p.m. June 13. The fundraiser will be held at the Lindberg Park Pavilion.

The time will be filled with food and fun with an opportunity to participate in team contests and basket raffles.

There is a cost for tickets. Tickets include half of a chicken, a baked potato, a choice of coleslaw or applesauce and rolls with butter. All proceeds will go directly to Salisbury basketball.

Any and all regulations regarding social distancing and mask wearing will be followed to ensure the safety of everyone. Come out for this time of food, fellowship and fun. This is one step closer to returning to “normal” athletics and school/community activities. Let us celebrate that together.

That’s all for this week; stay tuned for more student news.
