Pool to open June 14

Alburtis Borough Council announced at the May 26 meeting the Alburtis Area Community Center pool will not open until June 14.

Borough Manager Sharon Trexler received a phone call regarding a leak in the pool. Council hopes to open the pool in two weeks.

On the borough Facebook page, residents can locate a message from the Alburtis Area Community Pool. The post announced the pool will extend early bird rates for pool memberships until the opening date.

Trexler said she applied for a $2,000 grant from the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber Main Street program. The grant aims to improve every main street in the Lehigh Valley by financially aiding “urban planning, sidewalk beautification, façade improvement and streetscape design,” according to the chamber website. The money will be used for new banners.

In other news, council also carried a motion to amend a proposed parking ordinance. The planning commission suggested to change the parking ordinance to one spot per every 20 seats as opposed to every 30, due to rounding.

The meeting adjourned 7:25 p.m.
