Northampton: VFW Post 4714 to take part in holiday program

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4714 will participate in the Joint Veterans Organization’s Memorial Day program. It is planned for 11 a.m. May 31 at the veterans plaza, 14th Street and Washington Avenue.

VFW Post members will also offer tributes at the following cemeteries earlier in the day:

• 8:30 a.m., Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cemetery

• 9 a.m., St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery

• 9:30 a.m., Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery

• 10 a.m., Our Lady of Hungary Cemetery

Northampton Area Food Bank, 1601 Canal St., will be holding food distributions 5-7 p.m. May 27 and June 3, 10, 17 and 24 and 9:30 a.m.-noon June 12 and 19.

Bring a photo ID with a current address or your ID and a bill with the correct address. You should reside in Northampton Area School District or check with the food bank by phone Wednesday mornings. You will need names and birth dates of everyone living with you full time.

The food bank is open 9:30 a.m.-noon every Wednesday for registration, questions and donation drop-offs.

Holy Trinity Nursery School, 1235 Main St., is registering for the 2021-22 school year.

The 2-year-old playgroup class will meet 9:30-11 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. Class size is limited to 12 children. Children do not need to be toilet trained for this class.

The 3-year-old class meets 9-11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Class size is limited to 16 children. Children need to be toilet trained for this class.

The 4-year-old class meets 12:15-2:45 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Class size is limited to 16 children. Children need to be toilet trained for this class.

Children must turn the appropriate age for the class by Sept. 1.

There is a registration fee and monthly tuition.
