Hite announces run for school board seat

Becky Hite, Northwestern Lehigh School District resident and parent, has announced her candidacy for school board member in the May 18 Municipal Primary.

Hite has lived in the district for 10 years and has two children currently attending school at Northwestern Lehigh.

Hite says as a leader in the community, she has been involved in the PTO Executive Board at Weisenberg Elementary for more than six years, PTO at Northwestern Lehigh Middle School for three years and various other community involvement from Scouts to NYAA.

Hite says she is looking forward to using her strong roots in the district to bring a new voice to the school board.

“Our current school board members have high school students and grandchildren in the district,” Hite said.

“Our younger students and their parents are not fully represented and I would like to fill that void to create a more well rounded school board.”

Four seats are available for the election and all four current board members are seeking re-election.

Hite is one of four new candidates seeking to fill a seat.

“I would like to see more transparency in the school board/district decisions,” Hite said.

“Data and meeting information should be easily accessible to the public, not buried on the district website.

“I want to continue the relationship I have with our great teachers in the district and want to know how they feel on issues as well.

“This community will only thrive if all levels - administrators, teachers, parents and community members are working together for the greater good.”

Northwestern Lehigh educates 2,100 students in approximately 110 square miles of Lehigh County, Hite noted.
