‘The Sweetness of Salt’ serving up relaxation

Those looking for a new way to relax and unwind have a brand new option in Hellertown. The Sweetness of Salt, a new halotherapy spa located at the Water Street Plaza shopping center in the borough, is offering in-house spa treatments, as well as products available for purchase through its retail storefront.

Halotherapy is an alternative wellness treatment that involves the inhalation of salt air. Proponents claim treatments can cause improvements in and relief from symptoms of respiratory conditions such as asthma, chronic bronchitis and allergies.

In a press release, owner Jillian Rossi also touted its halotherapy room, also known as a ‘salt cave.’ “In addition to the physical benefits, our salt spa is also the ideal setting for meditation, deep relaxation and self-inflection,” she said. Other services available inside the spa include reiki, massage, facials, colorpuncture (light crystal therapy) and more.

Rossi is also known to many in the Lehigh Valley as founder of the popular World War II era-styled vocal trio The SwingTime Dolls. “I’m thrilled to be one of the first halotherapy centers to hit the Lehigh Valley region and introduce the enormous benefits of salt therapy,” she said.

The Sweetness of Salt is open from Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. More information can be found at sweetnessofsalt.com.
