Margaret Allen Coleman

Margaret Allen Coleman, “Suzie,” 78, died April 8, 2021, peacefully under the compassionate care of Family Pillars Hospice at Sacred Heart Senior Living in Center Valley. She had been dealing with a long battle with Alzheimer’s, dementia and finally a stroke on Easter Sunday. She was the wife of the late Gerald A. Coleman Jr. They were married for over 50 years. Born in Jersey City, N.J., she was a daughter of the late Walter Justin Allen and Margaret (McLaughlin) Allen.

She was a graduate of Holy Name School of Nursing, Teaneck, N.J. She was a registered nurse working as an operating room and emergency room RN at Holy Name Hospital. She and her husband lived at the Village of Ridgewood for over 35 years where she was an active member of the community, serving as president of the Women’s Club of Ridgewood and local Meals on Wheels.

Her favorite pastimes were cooking, making various works of art through needlepoint and reading books.

She and her late husband moved to Emmaus, where she was a member of St. Ann Church.

She is survived by a son, Dr. Gerald A. III and his wife, Samantha; a daughter, Margaret and her husband, Daniel Abolafia; six grandchildren; a brother, Michael Allen and his wife, Carol, of Robbinsville, N.J. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Tierney McKenzie.

A viewing will be held 9:15 to 10 a.m. April 16 at St. Joseph The Worker Church, Orefield. A Mass service will follow 10 a.m. Arrangements were made by the Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Homes, Allentown.
