James A. Handwerk

James A. Handwerk, 82, of Coplay, died April 1, 2021, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Center, Allentown. He was the husband of Evelyn L. (Hantz) Lokay-Handwerk for 30 years and earlier to the late Lavada.

Born in Walnutport, he was a son of the late Daniel and Claudine (Dilliard) Handwerk.

He was a Northampton High School graduate. He earned an associate degree in the electrical field from Penn State Extension.

He was last employed as a maintenance supervisor for the former Tarkett Inc., Whitehall, for 43 years before he retired.

He attended St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, Coplay, where he helped make pierogies.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Renda and her husband James Cherry of Mesa, Ariz.; a stepson, Henry Lokay and his wife Linda of Boulder, Colo.; a sister, Annette McRell of Walnutport; a granddaughter, Veronica Cherry; three stepgrandchildren, Sarah Blythe, Kaitlyn Loptein and Zac; and one great-grandchild, Michael James.

He was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth; a sister, Jean Reichard; and a grandson, Jordan.
