FHS tops Becahi twice

Freedom tennis coach Matt Potts made some lineup changes last week due to Patriot injuries, but even with those, the Pates scored two more team victories, defeating Bethlehem Catholic, 5-2, and Easton, 5-2.

In the Patriots’ match against Easton on April 1, Freedom’s Noah Potts won at one singles by default. Gavin Labaddia won at two singles, 6-1, 6-2, and at three singles, Advay Deshmukh won his match, 6-0, 6-0, both for Freedom.

Easton won its matches at one and two doubles, 8-3, and 6-4, 6-3, respectively, but Freedom won its next two doubles matches.

Brian Gerra and Shivam Chand were victorious at three doubles, 6-3, 6-1, and Baptiste Boussageon and Tommy Potts won at four doubles, 6-1, 6-0.

When Freedom hosted Becahi, it was the second time the teams faced off, and the second time the Pates came out on top.

Becahi’s Curt Gruber defeated Potts at one singles, 7-5, 6-2, and Labaddia lost to Armaan Makwana at two singles, 6-4, 3-6, 1-6.

Freedom’s Arun Chhugani defeated Anthony Barczynski, 6-0, 6-3, at three singles.

The Patriots won all their doubles matches with Brian Gerra and Lance Aborde over George Paris and Patrick Core, 8-5, and Deshmukh and Dylan Sarkozy over Josh Marusack and Dan Smith, 6-1, 4-6, 6-1.

At three doubles, Chand and Fahim Paiker defeated John Valence and Charlie Paris, 6-1, 6-1, and at four doubles, Tommy Potts and Boussageon defeated Zach Schmalz and Xavier Sanchez-Shive, 6-0, 6-0.
