Weldon Clarke Harris Jr.

Weldon Clarke Harris Jr., 90, died Feb. 22, 2021, at his home in Bedminster. He was the husband of Jane (Hilliard) Harris for 63 years.

Born in Atlanta, Ga., he was a son of Weldon C. Sr. and Mary Ellen (Livingston) Harris.

He earned a bachelor’s degree from Georgia Tech and a master’s degree in civil engineering from Tulane University.

He was a commander in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and retired from the U.S. Navy Reserves as a lieutenant commander. He was in the Naval Construction Battalion, known as the Navy SeaBees. He was stationed in Bermuda, Morocco, Guantanamo Bay and Rhode Island. He was for many years active in the U.S. Coast Guard.

He worked for the water works department for the state of Louisiana. He moved to Pennsylvania and worked for a New Jersey firm. He then opened his civil engineering firm, Weldon C. Harris Associates, Doylestown.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Weldon C. III and his wife Joanie, Wynfield Hilliard Harris and his wife Cynthia, Reed Livingston Harris and his wife Beth and Kimberly Ellen Harris Brubaker and her husband J. Andrew; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a sister, Gloria Harris Carastro.

Services are private.
