Charles L. Shimer, 82, of Allentown, died Feb. 28, 2021, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. He was the husband of Frances A. (Riccaboni) Shimer for 56 years.

Born in Whitehall Township, he was a son of the late Esther (Fenstermaker) Spitko.

He was a graduate of Northampton High School. He was a multisport high school athlete, particularly football. He was inducted into the Lehigh Valley Hall of Fame.

He was a merchandiser at Lehigh Traders, Allentown, for many years before retiring. He was a bartender at The Paddock, South Whitehall Township, for many years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Lori A. Rea of Allentown; a grandson, David C. Rea of Coopersburg; and a nephew, Tracy S. Roth of Orefield.

He was predeceased by two siblings, Eleanor L. Shupp and Robert H. Roth; and a nephew, William J. Roth.

Service are private.
