Maxine E. Lentz, 72, of Macungie, died Feb. 23, 2021. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Ruth (Long) and Robert E. Lentz, M.D.
She was a lifelong learner who graduated from Kansas State University with a doctorate in education. Following her passion, she established continuing education programs at universities in New Jersey, Massachusetts and Connecticut.
She had a love for animals. She rescued many dogs from shelters, providing them a home and companionship. She also cared for her horse, Twister, for 25 years. She enjoyed traveling with her family, especially visiting Ocean City, N.J., in the summer. Some other adventures include a Baltic cruise and a trip to Alaska.
She is survived by a brother, Michael F., DDS and his wife, Kathy, of Emmaus; a sister, Roberta and her husband, David Hertzfeldt, of Washington, D.C.; five nieces and nephews.
Contributions in her honor may be made to the American Cancer Society.
