Ferdinand C. Hutterer

Ferdinand “Fred” C. Hutterer, 79, of North Catasauqua, died Jan. 19, 2021, at home. He was the husband of Carol (Tarnopolski) Hutterer for 59 years.

Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Fred J. and Mary A. (Marsch) Hutterer.

He was a 1960 graduate of Northampton High School and was on the reunion committee. He earned a master barber certification.

He was a community barber for more than 50 years until he retired. He also worked for Mack Trucks for 15 years.

He was a member of St. John Fisher Catholic Church, North Catasauqua, where he was an Eucharistic minister and a member and past president of the Holy Name Society.

He was a coach and one of the founding members of the Suburban North Football League. He was the recipient of the 2003 American Legion Four Chaplains Award.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Fred C. and his wife Holly, Ann Marie Berner and her husband Gregory and Mark W. and his wife Terrilin; six grandchildren, Jessica Boandl and her husband Kyle, Sara Beth Berner-Orcutt and her husband Francis, Carlee Hutterer, Allison Hutterer, Lindsey Hutterer and Charles Hutterer; three great-grandchildren, Elise, Piper and Dierks; a sister, Patricia Ondrejca; an aunt, Mary Bock; two sisters-in-law, Michelle Hartung and her husband Jay and Andrea Zavilla and her fiance David; nieces; and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Ronald Ondrejca.
