Bethlehem Catholic pulled away from Liberty in the second half of Monday night’s contest en route to a 68-53 victory. It was the first time both teams played since January 23, bringing together a sense of normalcy for the league on the same day the East Penn Conference canceled league tournaments this season.
Becahi led 30-25 at halftime, but pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring the Hurricanes 20-8 in the frame to catapult them to victory.
Louis Vidal and Alex Cercado each had 18 points for Becahi, who improved to 4-3 on the season. Edixon Gomez and Ryan Glassmacher each had 10 points for Becahi as well.
Liberty (0-3) is still searching for its first win under new head coach Nigel Long. The Hurricanes had three scorers in double digits, as Jovonnie Nunez had a career high 15 points, along with Josh Farrell’s career high 14 point. Joe Barnes added 10 points in the loss.
Becahi was scheduled to take on Dieruff Tuesday night and Allen on Thursday. They wrap up the week on Saturday at home against Nativity BVM at 5:30 p.m.
Liberty looked to enter the win column against at Easton on Tuesday in their only other game of the week.
