Salisbury High School names student of the week

Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?

A. I am currently a senior at Salisbury High School.

Q. Who is in your family? Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.

A. I live with my mom, Amy Walthier. I do not have any pets or siblings.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. Music is my favorite subject because I am able to express myself. Ms. Reinecke is also one of my favorite teachers which makes her classes even more enjoyable.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. I have been part of National Honor Society since my sophomore year.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has COVID-19 impacted these activities?

A. I am captain of the color guard, Model UN and swimming this time of year. Thankfully I was able to have my final season of color guard even if it was a bit different. Swimming is similarly affected in that we are distanced and wearing masks. Model UN has been all virtual but has definitely still been fun. I am incredibly sad that I’m missing band and chorus for the time being.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. After high school I plan to go to Lehigh Carbon Community College for two years before transferring to my dream school, West Chester University of Pennsylvania, to major in political science.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. I consider my biggest challenge to be struggling with my mental health, particularly anxiety.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I want to be remembered as a caring and accepting person, but above all else, I hope to be remembered as kind.

Q. Whom do you admire? Why?

A. I admire my mom the most because she always works so hard to support me and be there for me.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. If I could give any advice to my peers it would be to not be afraid to ask for help. Even if it seems silly or you’re afraid to, it’s always worth asking and chances are someone will be happy to help you.
