Salisbury to host virtual recycling workshop

We have all virtually survived the second marking period …. well kind of! We are moving on to the third marking period and whether you are preparing your students for back to the brick and mortar school or staying virtual, we all need to remain supportive for our students. They are all working hard with the given situation; although we all know it is less than ideal, they are doing the best they can!

The Salisbury Elementary School PTO is excited to launch its next fundraiser: Matey’s Pizzas. Families can start selling pizzas immediately and orders must be submitted by Jan 29. Pick up is between 5-6 p.m. Feb 5 at SES. All information is on the order form that accompanied the email sent to all families.

With the upcoming plan for a return to face-to-face learning, there are several important tasks that need attention.

Any K-1 student remaining in the virtual model will need to pick up materials at SES 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 5-7 p.m. Jan. 20. Any SES student in second through fourth grades remaining virtual will need to pick up additional materials 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 5-7 p.m. Feb. 3 at SES. Any student who is returning to face-to-face instruction will not need to pick up materials.

Also, families with students attending SES were emailed information regarding the new school dismissal manager system. Please take the time to familiarize yourself and set up this tool if you have an SES student.

For those students attending Salisbury Middle School and Salisbury High School, please look for communications regarding your return to school information including schedules and busing assignments.

The next school board meeting will be held 7:30 p.m. Jan. 20 via Zoom. Remember to register to get your link.

Republic Services will pick up Christmas trees on your second weekly pickup day during the month of January. Trees over 6 feet will need to be cut in half.

Starting Feb. 1, residents who had Wednesday and Saturday trash pickup days will now have pickup on Monday and Thursday. Monday will be for trash and recycling, Thursday will be only trash.

Electronic and household hazardous waste collection is set to start March 1. Residents will be notified through mail and the township website in the next week or so.

The Environmental Advisory Council will meet 7 p.m. Jan. 20 via Zoom. A recycling workshop with guest speaker Gary Smalley from Republic Services will explain proper recycling, household hazardous waste and electronics collection. Register in advance at www.salisburytownshippa.org.
