Robert F. Fenstermaker

Robert F. Fenstermaker, 96, of Macungie, formerly of Fogelsville, died Jan. 6, 2021, at home. He was the husband of the late Mae E. (Marsteller) Fenstermaker for 70 years. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Charles W. and Verdie Q. (Kressley) Fenstermaker.

He was a member of Ziegels United Church of Christ, Breinigsville, where he served as superintendent of the Sunday school, was a deacon and served on the consistory.

He was a member of Masonic Lodge #326 Trexlertown, the Pennsylvania German Society, Junior Order of Mechanics and Knights of the Golden Eagle.

He proudly served his country as a United States Marine in World War II.

He was employed by Lehigh Portland Cement Company for 33 years where he was a chemist and quality control supervisor.

His love of gemstones and jewelry led him to the Gemological Institute of America where he obtained his graduate gemologist degree in 1954. He opened Fenstermaker & Schreiner with partner John Schreiner and enjoyed serving customers from 1965 to 1978. In 1989 he opened Robert’s Jewelers with his son Peter and it is currently a third-generation business with granddaughter Sarah assisting with management.

He is survived by a son, Peter R. and his wife Mindy L., of Macungie; grandchildren, Valerie, Sarah, Breana and Samantha; great-grandchildren, Braelyn and Hannah; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Vernon C. and Carl L., a daughter, Suzanne M. and a grandson Ryan P.

Contributions may be made to the church memorial fund, Ziegels U.C.C., Church, 9990 Ziegels Church Road, Breinigsville, 18031.

Services will be held at a later date. He and his wife will be interred together at that time. Arrangements were made by the Keller Funeral Homes, Inc., Fogelsville.
