UPPER MACUNGIE TOWNSHIP St. John’s Lutheran cancels community dinner

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1028 Main St., Fogelsville, has canceled its free community dinner scheduled for Jan. 15, 2021.

Upper Macungie Township is partnering with St. Luke’s to offer a chair strength and mobility class 8:30-9:30 a.m. Tuesdays Jan. 5-26, 2021.

The class, led by exercise specialists in improving strength and mobility, will be offered virtually and in person at the township building, 8330 Schantz Road, Breinigsville.

This low-impact, chair-based strength and flexibility exercise program is for adults of all activity levels.

There is a fee for the class. A link to the virtual class will be emailed to those who register.

The township is also partnering with The Nanny Loft LLC to offer a safe sitter one-day essential course 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Jan. 9 and 16, 2021, in the municipal building.

The course is designed to prepare students in grades six to eight, and nine to 12 to be safe home alone or babysitting.

The per student fee includes a 60-minute introduction to CPR, along with the safety, child care, first aid and rescue and life and business skills.

Students need to provide their own lunch.

Parkland Community Library, South Whitehall, will be hosting a sing and sign with My Smart Hands LV from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Jan. 4 and 11, 2021, on Zoom.

There will be music, movement, singing, American Sign Language, puppets and story time. Participants will practice songs and ASL signs together in each session and build through weekly repetition.

This program is a four-week series designed to be enjoyed by families with children ages 2-7.

No ASL experience is required.

A virtual Teen Dungeon and Dragons Night Zoom meeting will be held 6-8 p.m. Jan. 4, 2021, through the website R20 for students in seventh through 12th grade.

The Teen Virtual Anime Club for kids in grades sixth through 12 will meet 6:30-7:30 p.m. Jan. 6 and 13, 2021, on Zoom to watch a selected anime episode through Crunchyroll or Funimation.

Join yoga instructor Deanna Nagle for her gentle yoga weekly series for adults 10:30-11:30 a.m. Jan. 7 and 14, 2021, on Zoom,

She will guide participants through a range of motions to improve energy and focus, decrease pain in the body, and calm the central nervous system.

The library will hold a Teen Virtual Open Mic Improv Night for kids in grades six through 12 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Jan. 8, 2021, on Zoom.

Participants will vote on who had the best jokes or performance. The prize is a Target gift card.
