STEM scholarships at LCCC

Students enrolled or declaring a major in one of 25 STEM programs at Lehigh Carbon Community College have the opportunity to receive up to $5,000 in scholarship funds through a grant from the National Science Foundation.

The Scholarships in STEM (S-STEM) program is designed to support students with financial need who would like to pursue careers in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics career areas.

In addition to the scholarship funds, students in the program will be able to participate in activities related to their area of study, receive support services to prepare them for a bachelor’s degree and a career in STEM, work with faculty mentors and create a portfolio of work that can be used to document their goals and progress when applying to university programs.

Eligible students can receive up to $5,000 ($2,500 per semester) in scholarships each year.

Students will participate as a cohort in structured activities including one-on-one mentoring with STEM faculty, orientation, monthly meetings featuring integrated learning labs, mathematics support, student-facilitated study groups, S-STEM buddies, presentations by professionals, workshops, field trips, STEM Club and job/transfer fairs.

Students must meet eligibility criteria that include being a full-time student in eligible STEM programs, demonstrate financial need and show academic potential or ability.

Students can major in degree programs including biology, chemical technology, chemistry, engineering, environmental science, mathematics, physics, computer science, drafting and design, and various technology fields.

To apply, students must complete the application, which includes a short essay.

Applications are currently being accepted for the spring 2021 semester.
