Congratulations to the first SES T-shirt design winner

Salisbury Elementary School has a T-shirt design winner! Congratulations to Skylar Destremps for her creativity in designing the first ever SES shirt. The school congratulates Skylar on her positive message and design.

SES will have a T-shirt day Nov. 19. Wear your T-shirt and show your Falcon pride.

Salisbury Middle School and Salisbury High School will have an early dismissal 12:15 p.m. Nov. 25. SES will have an early dismissal 1:15 p.m. Nov. 25.

Schools will be closed for the Thanksgiving break Nov. 26, 27 and 30.

For SHS parents, the first quarter report cards were posted to the Sapphire Community Portal. Check your portal account to see your student’s grades. SES and SMS also posted report cards on the portal.

The high school counseling office will conduct a parent information evening for current sophomores 6:30 p.m. Nov. 19. Interested parents/guardians should RSVP to Mrs. Martinez (smartinez@salisburysd.org) by Nov 18. The Zoom link will be sent the morning of the event.

Upcoming school board meetings include a regular meeting 7:30 p.m. Nov. 18 and a curriculum and technology meeting 7 p.m. Dec. 2. Immediately following that meeting will be an operations committee meeting and a school board reorganization meeting.

For juniors and seniors still weighing their options regarding colleges and universities, Wilkes University will host a virtual visit 9 a.m. Nov. 19. Moravian College will host an immediate decision day noon Dec. 9. Interested seniors and juniors must email Mrs. Martinez (smartinez@salisburysd.org) at least one day before the college visit in order to receive the link to participate in the virtual visit(s) of their choosing. Junior students are not eligible for immediate decision days or application seminars.

Regarding leaf collection, on Nov. 14, one leaf collection crew started in the first ward, moving from Dodson toward the Daisy Hill area. The second crew is moving into the Meadowbrook area. The third crew is working in the Green Acres area and heading to the Saddlebrook area. The last crew will be in the Capital Street/Berger Street area working their way to Cedar Crest and Fish Hatchery areas. Exercising an abundance of caution, and to respect social distancing guidelines due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Salisbury Township Environmental Advisory Council will meet 7 p.m. Nov. 18 online via Zoom. Agenda items include a review of proposed land development projects and a presentation by certified arborist Brian Duvall, of Bartlett Tree Experts, on the importance of native species and benefits trees provide. The yard waste sites at both Franko and Devonshire will be open 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday on alternate weeks. Franko is open the week of Nov. 16 and Devonshire is open the week of Nov. 23. The sites will be closed Nov. 26 and 27 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Salisbury Athletic Booster Club Clothing Drive will be held Nov. 21 at SHS. The drop off location is SHS’s old gym entrance 9 a.m. to noon.
