LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

student of the week Alexandra Soleta

Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?

A. I am in 12th grade at Salisbury High School.

Q, Who is in your family? Please provide the ?rst names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.

A. My mom Lorillie, my dad Alvin, my sister Sophia and my cat Deputy.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. Science, specifically chemistry. Despite having a hard time performing some of the math based problems, I enjoy being in the lab and performing experiments.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. Last year, a group of friends and I were able to win second place in the Emmaus Film Festival.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has COVID-19 impacted these activities?

A. I’m part of Literary Club, Sewing for Charity club and STARs. COVID-19 has definitely become a challenge for the Sewing for Charity club because not everyone has access to a sewing machine outside of the club and all the materials were in the classroom. However, we did think of a way to continue our club activities while at home.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. My next goal after graduating high school is to go to college and study for a master’s degree in computer science.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. Starting high school is what I would consider to be my biggest challenge to date. Not only was I adjusting to the new type of schedule and teachers, I was also needing to meet new people as I came from a different middle school. It was stressful to me at the time because everyone already had their own groups.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I want to be remembered as someone who was genuine. Someone who anyone can turn to when they need help or just want someone to talk to.

Q. Whom do you admire? Why?

A. My parents are on the top of my list for people I admire. Immigrating from the Philippines, they were able to achieve so much despite starting out with very little. On top of working, they were able to take care of me and my sister.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. Live your life prioritizing yourself. Be mindful of others, but when it comes to making decisions put your well-being ?rst.
