Salisbury Elementary Book Fair begins Oct. 30

The Salisbury Elementary School Book Fair is just around the corner. Things may look very different this year, but this is still an amazing opportunity. Students will learn details of how the online book fair will work during their library Zoom during the week of Oct. 26, with the book fair officially beginning Oct. 30.

Book fair events will be held via Zoom Oct. 30 including kindergarten through second grade highlights, highlights for grades three and up, an online scavenger hunt and even a read aloud. Please refer to the Zoom session details, which will be released closer to the event, for more information.

SES will hold a drive-thru trick-or-treat Halloween parade 2-3 p.m. Oct. 30. This event is for SES families only and will be held in the school parking lot. All students, siblings and parents/guardians are encouraged to dress up for the occasion. You are also encouraged to decorate your car, should you choose. Open your trunk or hatch for your treats to be placed inside. Hope to see you there!

The Salisbury High School counseling office will conduct a parent information evening for current freshmen 6:30 p.m. Oct. 29. Topics will include: highlights of SHS; graduation requirements; Lehigh Career and Technical Institute options; numeric grade average and class rank; interventions and supports and postsecondary planning. All interested parents/guardians should RSVP to Mrs. Martinez (via email at smartinez@salisburysd.org) by Oct. 28. When registering for this event, include your student’s name and the email address you would like to receive the Zoom link. The Zoom link will be sent the morning of the event. Hope all those ninth graders are doing well as they embark on their high school years.

Salisbury Middle School/SHS winter athletic physicals will take place Nov. 4 at SHS beginning 5 p.m.

A more comprehensive email will be sent with a sign-up option but they wanted to share the date with the community as soon as possible. Note this is not for Salisbury Youth Association. Make sure you pay attention to any emails for more information.

Salisbury Township will hold trick or treat in the township 6-8 p.m. Oct. 30. For those who want to trick-or-treat, you are asked to maintain social distancing and wear a mask (it IS Halloween after all!). If you are choosing not to venture out and would still like to participate, leave your light on and I’m sure you will have plenty of ghosts and goblins stop by. Remember to have fun and be safe.

The Salisbury Township drop-off centers continue to be open on alternating weeks. The Franko Farm site will be open the week of Nov. 2 and the Devonshire site will be open the week of Nov. 9. Hours will be 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Please note the Devonshire site will be closed Nov. 11.
