LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Basking in the Halloween Blue Moon

By ANN WERTMAN

Special to The Press

These frightful black cats have consulted the Farmers’ Almanac and are anxiously awaiting the almost global-wide blue moon coming this way on Oct. 31 ... the first across all time zones since 1944.

Also worshipping the moon are 30 pumpkins and two new prankster scarecrows embellished with strobe lights created with PVC pipe, old ripped brown bed sheets and believe it or not, the fallen twigs of those unwelcome autumn olives shrubs which dot the rural landscape.

Phil Rossetto and Greg Snider have once again pooled their talents to reinvent one of their Halloween scenes passersby enjoyed a number of years ago along Route 100 in Lowhill Township.

Rossetto and Snider find great joy in rummaging through their closets, and going to hardware and local stores which bless them with the nuts and bolts materials, including more than 30 extension cords lighting up this creation after sunset.

Rossetto and Snider have provided a much-needed boost in morale during this year of the COVID-19 pandemic.
