Roughies Report: No classes for students Oct. 12

Catasauqua Area School District will be closed Oct. 12 in observance of the Columbus Day holiday.

Reminder: The last day to purchase tickets for Catasauqua High School varsity football team’s fundraiser of Kauffman’s chicken barbecue dinners is Oct. 9. Each dinner will feature half of a roasted chicken, baked potato, creamed cabbage and dessert.

You can purchase your ticket from any varsity football player or coach, at the CHS athletic office or at North Catasauqua Borough Hall, 1066 Fourth St.

Those purchasing a ticket can pick up their dinner in the parking lot of CHS 3-6 p.m. Oct. 22.

CHS is still in need of two or three daily substitute teachers starting immediately. A valid Pennsylvania teaching certification is required.

The qualified candidate will report to CHS 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. every day. This candidate will be required to substitute in grades 9 through 12 classrooms or expressive arts positions (music, art, library and gym).

The compensation is $130 per day.
