LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Coplay Public Library: Coplay library follows up-to-date information from CDC

Fall has arrived! Along with cooler temperatures and beautiful foliage, this year presents enormous challenges. We are doing our best to keep serving the public safely by following up-to-date information from scientific sources.

Everyone over the age of 2 is required to wear a mask and practice social distancing while in the library. Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer while you are in the building and when entering and leaving.

Let’s keep each other safe and healthy, especially entering the cooler months and influenza season.

***

All six public computers are now available. We have installed plexiglass shields around each computer for users’ protection.

***

We are continuing curbside service for patrons who can’t wear masks or other at-risk community members.

To borrow materials, place holds directly on your account using the online catalog on our website, coplaypubliclibrary.org. You can also call 610-262-7351 or email coplaypubliclibrary@gmail.com.

For further information and hours for curbside services, see our website or contact the library by phone or email.

***

All incoming materials are now quarantined for seven days.

The Lehigh-Carbon Library Cooperative is requiring all member libraries to follow this procedure, which is based on information from new studies on the coronavirus.

We are confident patrons requesting holds on materials from our library or other libraries will understand the longer wait period is a necessary precaution for the sake of all community members.

Join Miss Janice for storytime, streamed on Facebook Live 11 a.m. each Thursday. We will also have video links for you to watch later if you cannot make it.

No registration is required.

We still have a few idea jars for you to pick up for your young readers.

Your child will be inspired to create a story through these activity packages. While you’re here, look at the book “Idea Jar” by Adam Lehrhaupt to learn more.

Don’t forget to select one of the bundles of free books located on the windowsill of the children’s area.

***

Help your child or grandchild learn about the importance of wearing a mask by putting together his or her own storybook.

This fun activity will also help develop each child’s creative, listening and reading abilities.

We will provide you with most of the materials you need including the storybook pages.

Attention, Whitehall High school and Whitehall-Coplay Middle School students: We have free books for you. Some may even be on your school’s required or suggested reading lists.

They are in the foyer and on shelves under the book return inside the library.

The books are yours to keep, pass along to friends or family, donate to another organization of your choice or recycle.

You don’t have to leave your house to borrow books or magazines - you can use the Libby app or the Overdrive website on your own devices.

Just go to the library’s website and use your library card number and password to access Overdrive in the E-Resources tab or download the Libby app to your device. More than 14,000 e-books and audios are available.

If you need help with your password, call the library at 610-262-7351.

While we will not have a book sale this year, we always have a collection of books for sale on the shelves at the circulation desk. A few CDs and DVDs are also available. The selection changes regularly.

***

We have a limited amount of space to quarantine donated items, so don’t ask us to take materials that don’t meet our guidelines, which can be found on our webpage or by asking for our new brochure. Pay special attention to the physical condition of the materials.

We can accept three bags or boxes of materials per household.

Bring your donations when the library is open. Do not put any donations in the outside book drop. This space is needed for returns, which may include materials borrowed from other libraries.
