Sheckler News: New contact for Sheckler column

My name is Cassandra Dayoub, and I will be sharing Sheckler Elementary news with the Catasauqua Area School District community.

I have lived in the Lehigh Valley all of my life, residing in both Allentown and Bethlehem. I graduated from Dieruff High School in 2014 and received a Bachelor of Arts in anthropology from the University of Pittsburgh in 2018.

I am only at the beginning of climbing my career ladder, but I enjoy communicating with the community and spreading positivity. My interests include writing, photography and cooking new meals - I am over the college ramen diet!

I can be reached at dayoubcassie@gmail.com or 610-739-1288 for news and story ideas.

The Sheckler courtyard received a maintenance makeover after a long period of restricted access, thanks to Catasauqua High School nurse Mrs. Tercha and her group of volunteers from Nativity Lutheran Church of Allentown.

Free breakfast bags will be distributed at the end of each day.

Students are expected to take the bag home and use it for breakfast the next day. Parents/guardians, if your child participates in this program, make sure your child eats the breakfast before coming to school each day.

Contactless curbside pickup for school breakfast and lunch for CASD students learning from home and residents aged 18 and under will occur 9:45-10:15 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays in front of Sheckler.

On Tuesday, two days worth of meals will be handed out, and on Thursday, three days worth of meals handed out; there will be a total of five days worth of meals offered, all for free.

Students do not need to be in the car during pickup, but drivers will be asked to verify the names and ages of the children. Please arrive with a clean vehicle trunk. Walk-ups will be accommodated.
