The cross country team officially kicked off the fall sports season at Catasauqua High School on Tuesday with a home meet against Palmerton and Northwestern. The boys dropped both meets while the girls split. Southern Lehigh also took part in the meet but didn’t compete versus Catty.

The Roughie girls topped the Bombers 20-38 but fell to Tigers 17-44.

Lexi Rushatz led all Catty runners. She placed 12th for the girls with a time of 21:53. Lucy Brubaker also brought home a top-20 finish taking 18th in 23:10. Kaylee Weidaw was 19th and also in the top-20.

Southern Lehigh’s Alaina Patel took first place with a time of 19:57, a few seconds ahead of Northwestern’s Angelina Klein, who timed in at 20:06. The Spartan girls easily beat Palmerton (15-50) and Northwestern (19-44).

On the boys side, the Roughs fell to the Bombers 15-48 and lost to the Tigers 15-50.

Alex Kane of Southern Lehigh was the first boy to cross with a time of 16:05. Teammate Dominik Lisicky was second in 16:32. Those finishes helped the Spartans to edge the Tigers 26-29.

For Catty, Cole Brown was the first Rough to cross. He took 24th with a time of 20:22.
