Salisbury Township schools to start virtually Sept. 8

Today’s world continues to have one constant ... change.

We are finding things are changing on a daily basis and we have a new term that if I’m honest, drives me crazy ... it’s all fluid. Hopefully the fluid situation starts to solidify as we enter the school year, but the way 2020 has gone no one knows.

All Salisbury Township schools will start virtually Sept. 8.

Information with regard to teachers, bus assignments (when we need them) and student schedules is all active on the portal. If you do not have access, you will need to go on the district website and request a PIN as most information is distributed via the portal.

Teachers should be emailing class schedules for Zoom meetings, which are mandatory, by Sept. 3 so look for that information to be distributed soon.

I would like to wish everyone the best of luck for the start of the school year, as we are all navigating this with different challenges.

If you need help, please reach out to a teacher, neighbor, family member or friend. We need to support each other as best as we can right now.

St. Luke’s Behavioral Health school-based team is offering series or online events to help kids understand the impacts of COVID-19 with a series called “The NEW Back to School” online events. Sessions will be held Tuesdays in September beginning Sept. 8. Sessions will meet 6 to 7 p.m. The first session is “Candid Kid COVID Talk: What is COVID? What symptoms/signs are we seeing in children due to this pandemic and what can we do to help?” Psychiatric physician assistant Amy Pulcini and moderator Jody McCloud Missmer will help to provide answers to these questions and more. To register for this live event, visit the link: https://go.activecalendar.com/sluhn/event/the-new-back-to-school-online-event-series/.

Each session will be recorded to view at a later date and registration is needed to access the playback.

Salisbury Township drop-off centers continue to be open on a weekly rotating basis. Franko Farm is open the week of Sept. 7 and Devonshire is open the week of Sept. 14. Hours remain 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday; 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and Thursday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

“Fearless means taking the first step, even if you don’t know where it will take you. It means being driven by a higher purpose, rather than by applause. It means knowing that you reveal your character when you stand apart, more than when you stand with the crowd.” Chadwick Boseman
