Summer Sounds

Toots the dog dances to the music of John Brown and the Hatchets at a Summer Sounds concert, organized by Whitehall Area Chamber of Commerce and Whitehall Township Recreation Department, Aug. 8 at the barn on the Peter Grim Homestead, 1111 Lehnert Road, Whitehall. Toots' owners, Mike and Hayden Rinde, of Bethlehem, watch the fancy footwork. Concert organizers limited the crowd to 250 people and followed Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines. A socially distanced audience enjoys an evening of music from the band John Brown and the Hatchets under a grove of trees. The goal of the free concert was to get people out into the fresh summer evening air and provide motivation after several weeks of quarantine.

Linda Berghold, of Salisbury Township, serves signature funnel cakes from a food truck operated by Josie's Fancy Funnels as Judy Harakal, of Whitehall, reaches for her tasty treat. Josie's was on hand to provide refreshments to concert attendees.
Palmerton resident Chris Weiss and Kylie Adams, liaison with Whitehall Area Chamber of Commerce, show their funnel cakes provided by Josie's Fancy Funnels, a food truck vendor serving at the concert.

Tim Harakal, a vocalist and guitarist for the band John Brown and the Hatchets, performs a Folk-Americana song, for which the band is known.
