Gary Lynn Hartman, 69, of Lower Macungie Township, died peacefully at home Aug. 11, 2020. He was the husband of Lauren Margaret Hartman (Leigh). Born in Salamanca, N. Y., he was the son of the late Lowell William Hartman and Dorothy Huntsman, now of Ephrata.

He graduated from Ephrata High School in 1969 and Juniata College in 1973. He spent his career teaching chemistry and natural science and coaching sports in the Souderton Area School District.

He was an avid fly fisherman, golfer and tennis player. He enjoyed birdwatching, nature photography and spending time outdoors.

His life was truly enriched by his dear and loyal friends Frank Motaka, Darryl Smith and Gary Freed. Lauren wishes to thank their many kind neighbors at Wild Cherry Knoll along with her sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Daniel Jones, whose support during this difficult time allowed her to care for him at home.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Andrew and his wife, Victoria; a grandson, Parker, of Roslynn Heights, N.Y.; a daughter, Aimee and her husband, Vinnie Ferloin, of Erie; brothers, Dr. Craig and his wife, Jan, of Altoona, Jeff and his wife Denise, of Ephrata; a sister, Diane and her husband, Kevin Wealand, of Ephrata; many cousins and nieces.

A Celebration of Life service is postponed until spring. Arrangements were made by the Nicos C. Elias Funeral Home, Allentown.
