Council approves Willowbrook Farms preliminary plan

Northampton Borough Council, during its July 16 meeting, gave preliminary approval for a 50-single-home development proposed by Willowbrook Farms. The housing project, which will be located off Howertown Road, will still require final approval from council for the second phase of development.

The development will have the homes facing an easterly, inward direction. The large evergreen trees along Howertown Road will remain.

Borough Manager LeRoy Brobst said council, in approving the preliminary plans, included a set of conditions Willowbrook Farms will have to abide by, such as utilities and other technical matters. The borough expects the final plans to be approved shortly.

The 11 single homes of Willowbrook Homes’ first phase are currently under construction. The houses are off Bullshead Road. There is already a completed model home on the tract.

In other business, council received a request from Northampton Area High School to have the fire police participate with traffic control for its July 24 graduation ceremony. This is a scaled-back version of the original concept that complies with the governor’s green phase conditions. If rain dates are needed, commencement will take place July 25 and 26.
