Charles David Murphy

Charles David Murphy, 61, died peacefully June 21, 2020, after being ‘reborn’ as a transplant patient, Dec. 8, 2018. He was the husband of Rebecca (Patterson) Murphy for 30 years and a son of Walt and Julia Murphy.

He graduated from Palmetto High, Miami, Fla., in 1979 and emerged with a passion for food. His first chef experience was in the Lehigh Valley at Menage on Route 191, in 1984, after working in many Miami area establishments.

An employment chameleon, he worked in every field from electrical to carpet to real estate and mortgages to training himself to program computers purely to remain ahead of his kids in this skill.

He proudly served Air Products’ information technology department as a data center architect to his last week of life. He was very creative and loved gardening. He came alive being an area referee for youth to PIAA level lacrosse and soccer.

He is survived by his wife; sons, Caleb and his wife, Erica (Blazek); Samuel and 2nd Lt. Joel; Mags and her husband, Tracey Smith; parents; siblings, Mike, Lisa (Ochoa) and her husband, Pat, Rich and his wife, Irene; nephews, Karl Sera, Bobby, Sean and Kevin; nieces, Brittany (Stewart) and Kelly (Pearce); an aunt, Charla; parents-in-law, Jean and Jerry Patterson; sisters-in-law, Tami (Catania) and Valerie (Jarvis); granddaughters, Gavrielle and Avigale; many grown in-law nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews of the Murphy and Davies clans.

Please cherish people with daily affirmations, if not hugs in his honor.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date in 2020 (look for an announcement on his Facebook page).
