William R. Laudenslager

William R. “Bill” Laudenslager, 76, of Allentown, died June 25, 2020, at The Phoebe Home, Allentown. He was the husband of Alberta V. (Furlong) Laudenslager to whom he was married 55 years on April 24. Born in Quakertown, he was the son of the late James R. and Marian P. (Crouthamel) Laudenslager.

He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War era.

He was employed as a supervisor at Mack Trucks, Inc., Macungie, for 38 years, retiring in 2011.

He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield and a 4th Degree member of The Knights of Columbus, Council #10921. In 2015, he was the recipient of the Knight of the Year Award.

He loved to travel and he and his wife traveled extensively throughout Europe prior to his illness. Their favorite travels were with their six grandchildren. They would all load into his van and take off for an excursion - no parents allowed!

He was an amazing woodworker who took great pleasure in finding an old treasure and making it new again. He was known on the antique trail as “Dollar” Bill.

He is survived by his wife; children, William P. (Bonnie), of Orefield, Heather A. O’Brien (Christopher), of Macungie; brothers, Ronald J. (Gail), of Wisconsin, Gerald W., of Arizona; grandchildren, Taylor, Andrew and Katherine O’Brien, Logan, Cameron and Reagan; nieces and nephews and will be greatly missed by his nephew, Deacon Ryan Furlong. It was one of his greatest desires to be at Ryan’s ordination to the priesthood later this summer. He will be there in attendance...just looking down from Heaven.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mary’s Shelter, Reading in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box #196, Schnecksville, 18078-0196.
