Kutztown

Emily Harrington of Fogelsville was one of six award winners at Kutztown University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts annual Student and Faculty Art Excellence awards.

The VPA Student Excellence Award recognizes one student from each of the six departments within VPA: art, art education, cinema, television and media production, communication design, communication studies and music.

Harrington, a communications studies major, transferred from Lehigh Carbon Community College in 2018.

In her short time at KU, she has joined the honors program, taken on the presidency of the Communication Club, earned straight A’s and maintained full-time employment.

Harrington is collecting qualitative interview data about women’s experiences with endometriosis, an honors capstone project which she wants to continue in graduate school.

Other VPA winners included Hadley Wiktor, Eirene Hoover, Tim Corrao, Gina Naseef and Adrianna Howden.
