Northwestern Class of 2020 graduates are invited to bring a guest and join their classmates for a summer prom to remember.

The prom will take place 6-9 p.m. July 31 at Willow Tree Grove, Orefield.

Formal or any semiformal attire is encouraged. This will be an indoor/outdoor event.

There will be a DJ, dance floor, appetizers, desserts and soft beverages, as well s’mores around a campfire, and more.

This event is being coordinated by mothers of the graduates, said Karen Heiter, mother of senior Abigail Heiter.

“This is a great group of moms,” Heiter said. “We’re trying to give this deserving group of young adults a chance to have a prom.”

There are a few things she wants to share with parents who may have concerns:

“We are having this celebration at Willow Tree Grove in Orefield,” Heiter said. “This venue gives room for the new graduates to have a lot of options to distance.

“The appetizer option was chosen to ease the exposure and eliminate the sit down meal exposure.

“The speaker system will be extended to the decks and outside patio area. The s’mores for the fire pit will be individually packaged and the doughnuts for the doughnut wall will be individually wrapped.

“Beverages will be served in sealed containers. Hand sanitizer will also be available.”

Since the event is not being sponsored by the school district, any donations would be appreciated and accepted through the GoFundMe account gofundme.com/f/northwestern-lehigh-prom-2020, she said.
