The Northampton County Department of Community and Economic Development announced the award of $300,000 EPA grant which will provide supplemental funding for brownfield sites cleanup. A brownfield is a property where the expansion, redevelopment or reuse may be complicated by hazardous substances.

The EPA grants Brownfields Revolving Loan Funds to communities which have demonstrated success in using the program to clean up and redevelop brownfield sites.

DCED has seven years to identify areas for environmental cleanup and use the funding. Some eligible projects include the Easton Iron and Metal site on Bushkill Drive and the former Dixie plant in Easton.
